The Sports Coaching Education Study Programme at Universitas Negeri Padang is an integral part of the Coaching Department under the Faculty of Sport Science. The programme was established with the aim of producing qualified, professional sports coaches who have a deep understanding of modern and effective coaching theory and practice.
The study programme was officially started based on the Decree of the establishment of the study programme no. 241/DIKTI/Kep/1996 signed by the Head of Administration, Secretariat of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture on 11 July 1996. The decision strengthened the legal and academic foundation for the implementation of quality education programmes. Effective from 30 April 2001, the programme commenced its education programme which had been initiated on 8 December 1983, signifying a long dedication to coaching education in Indonesia.
In its journey, this Study Programme continues to innovate and improve the quality of the curriculum and teaching methods to adapt to the development of science and technology in the field of sports. This was marked by the issuance of the Operational Permit Decree no. 70/DIKTI/Kep/2007 on 2 April 2007, which is an important step in adjusting the operational standards and accreditation of study programmes that ensure the quality of education delivered.
Sports Coaching Education at Universitas Negeri Padang continues to be committed to producing coaches who are not only skilled in coaching techniques, but also able to develop the capacity of athletes and teams with a scientific and applicative approach. This programme is the first choice for prospective sports coaches who want to develop a career in the national and international sports arena.
