One of the most affordable ways to travel is by train. Currently, the only active railway is the Pulau Aie-Airport Commuter network, using the Minangkabau Ekspres train, with a stop at Air Tawar Station. Transport within the city is served by city buses, mikrolets, and taxis. Bendi (a type of horse-drawn carriage) can still be found in the city center, and online motorcycle taxis can be accessed via mobile phone applications. In early 2014, the government started operating the Trans Padang mass transit bus. All of these transportation options can be used to reach the UNP Air Tawar campus.
